Privacy Policy

Written to describe what actually happens rather than to cover every eventuality, so it can be relied on.

Last updated: 15 August 2026.

Your video files

This is the part most people are asking about, so it comes first. The tools that read a video file do so entirely in your browser. The file is never uploaded, never transmitted, and never seen by this site or anyone operating it.

That is not a promise about restraint, it is a property of how the site is built: there is no upload endpoint here for a file to be sent to. The browser gives the page a reference to a file in local memory, the page hands that reference to a video element, and closing the tab discards it.

What is collected

When you use the site normally

The web server keeps standard request logs, as essentially all web servers do. These record the IP address, the time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser user agent. They exist for security and for diagnosing faults, are not used to build a profile of anyone, and are not sold or shared.

When you send a message or a copyright notice

The information you put in the form is stored on the server so it can be read and answered. For the contact form that is your name, email address, subject and message. For a copyright notice it is the fields that notice requires, including your name, email and the declarations.

This information is used to respond to you and, for copyright notices, to act on the complaint. It is not used for marketing, not added to any mailing list and not passed to third parties except where required by law.

Your IP address is also used for a short-lived rate limit on the forms, which exists to stop automated abuse. It is held in memory only and is discarded when the server restarts.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. There is no login, no session and no preference that needs storing between visits. The cookie policy covers this and what would change if advertising were enabled.

Analytics

No analytics service is currently running on this site. Nothing measures your visit beyond the standard server logs described above. If that changes, this section will be updated to name the service and say what it collects, and the cookie policy will be updated with it.

Advertising

No advertising is currently served on this site. The layout reserves space for it so that enabling it later does not reshuffle pages under readers, but nothing is being loaded and no advertising cookies are being set.

If advertising is enabled in future, this policy and the cookie policy will be updated to name the provider and describe what it collects before it goes live, not afterwards.

Third-party services

The site loads a web font from Google Fonts, which is served from Google's infrastructure and means your browser makes a request to it. Beyond that and the hosting provider, no third-party service receives data about your visit.

Links to other websites are what they appear to be: links. Once you follow one, that site's own policy applies and this one does not.

How long things are kept

  • Server request logs: rotated on the hosting provider's normal schedule.
  • Form submissions: kept as long as needed to deal with the matter, and for copyright notices, as long as needed to keep a record of what was decided.
  • Rate limit records: in memory only, discarded on restart.
  • Your video files: never held at all, so nothing to keep.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Form input is validated on the server rather than trusted from the browser, and submissions are rate limited. No system is impregnable, and claiming otherwise would be dishonest, but the amount of personal data held here is deliberately very small.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to certain processing. Since the only personal data held is what you have voluntarily sent through a form, a request usually amounts to asking for that message to be deleted, which will be done.

Requests can be sent through the contact form.

Children

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them. There is no account system, and nothing here asks for personal details beyond a message you choose to send.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes. Changes that affect what is collected will be made before the collection starts, not after.
